St. Dismas Guild - January 2004 Pro Life Newsletter

We are told in scripture that we are called to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34). We are told in scripture that what we do to the least of our brothers and sisters we do to Him (Mat. 25:31-46).  We are told in scripture that we must obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29). In just thirty years we have as a nation murdered almost forty million unborn American children through the holocaust of abortion. We have turned our backs on our future generations which would have given us our future Doctors, Nurses, Clergy, Teachers, Engineers, Entertainer, Athletes, etc..  through apathy, fear of confrontation and sinfulness.

What we do and have done to the most helpless is what we have done to God Himself. When we love and serve mankind, we love and serve God, and when we are attacking mankind especially the innocent unborn, we are attacking God. We have watched our nation slide down a slippery slope of Judicial and Legislative mockery that is threatening to tear down the traditional values of our country.

We once heard an American President state that to endanger the lives of a few would endanger the lives of many and that danger today is the sin of abortion. The greatest sin in America is the killing of our innocent unborn children and the most dangerous place for an unwanted child in America is in the womb of the child’s mother. The blood and guilt of all these aborted children are on the hands of us all. We are being called by the silent scream of all these murdered victims as well as the cry of heaven itself to repent and stop the killing. We begin by repenting of our apathy and pray in front of the abortion centers across the country. Check out where one is near you and get a group of friends and pray the rosary once a week at that center, that is a start and a good one. Let us all ask our Lady to intercede for the unborn through our prayers. Prayer is what is going to put a stop to abortion, the united prayer of God’s people.

Scripture tells us that God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength, but with the trial he will also provide a way out (1Cor. 10:13). This is the message of hope and that is what I want to bring to you each month, the hope that is found in God’s Word and the teachings of the Catholic Church. I will be writing about subjects such as Natural Family Planning (NFP), God’s Divine Order in the family, fornication, contraception, abortion, euthanasia, chastity, abstinence, an informed conscience, etc. I hope that you will send me some topics that you would like to hear what God’s Word says and what the Church teaches regarding these subjects.  I will see you again next month and invite you to join us in our upcoming Seminars, Mini Retreats, and Liturgies as soon as we open. We will also have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel.

God bless you,
